We were honored to be commissioned to design the entrance garden for our second Portland "Rummer" In the Portland Oregon and surrounding areas, a "Rummer" refers to an iconic mid-century modern home built by developer Robert "Bob" Rummer between 1959 and 1975 inspired by California's Eichler homes.

Designing gardens for mid-century modern architecture is my absolute dream. Echoing the clean lines of the architecture we designed the hardscape as a modern day nod to classic mid century modern hardscape design. Segmented concrete in the driveway and pathway allow for permeability and replenishing groundwater on site. The strong horizontal and vertical planes of the hardscape were softened with a naturalized plant pallet. The plant palette highlights drought tolerant grasses, pollinator friendly perennials and a handful of site appropriate NW natives species.
